Early Summer, our Lavender blooming season

Each year in Provence, end of June – begining of August is THE time to admire vast blooming lavender fields. Just a few weeks to enjoy a beautiful natural purple show! This iconic flower is cultivated intensely on the highest plateaus nearby Apt and Valensole. Though it is also possible to observe more isolated fields almost everywhere in Provence and Drome areas. Check Provence Lavender route map.

As the timeframe is relatively narrow, we advise visitors who wish to see the famous purple flower in bloom while they are traveling in France to book their trip early. It ensures all necessary availabilities for Group accommodation and transport.

Several activities can enhance your tour. For example, a guided visit of a traditional distillery. It presents to all visitors the whole transformation process from the plant to the perfume and essential oil production. Such a visit coupled with a practical wokshop to learn how to make your own perfume is generally very much appreciated.

The plant is used not only for beauty or household products, but also for medicinal purposes. Thereby its soothing, antiseptic and relaxing virtues are widely recognized. For centuries, it has been cultivated around the World. Nowadays, Southern regions in France are the ones keeping the production running high. The Agency selects organic independent lavender producers as partners on location.
